Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has had four years of play online. So far with millions of players logging in everyday to play across the globe, you begin to wonder what the game has in store for its future. Yoshi-P has already said until he is blue in the face that he will continue the story line until the popularity dies away. But the one thing I would never have expected was him to thank the players to come to his dream world to play.
Every year you can meet his in game character and interact with him. Though it is just in NPC form, it is still very interesting and honestly the best thing yet in any MMORPG or basic RPG I have played. The respect that the creator shows the players is outstanding compared to other games I have witnessed before. And in my honest, heartfelt opinion, I believe that this is exactly why players continue to play and work hard.
I wont give away the actual quest story, but I did manage to snag a few shots of the gratitude shown to the players after the event is finished. I would like to point out that this is why other MMORPGs may have lost their players. Having a fulfilling story that feels you with a sense of emotion that tugs at you isn’t just the reason FFXIV pulled me into the world of Eorzea. Sure I have had my fair share of the elitist’s graceful attitude. But to deal with a troll, either you can feed the troll, or you can troll a troll, or like I tend to do, you can tell a troll off. Play your own way, you pay for your sub. When the creator takes time to program a sincere thank you into the game, your damn straight I will continue playing. I’m highly aware the quest was for all, but he did not have to do this. Yet he still did, to show his gratitude to the players. Because he is well aware that without us, this game would not be here. I don’t mean this in a snotty elitist way either. I’m grateful for the game. Best friends I have ever had.
